The Greater Terre Haute NAACP Branch will recognize Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with a “Day On for Action” program. John E. Lang, Political Action Committee chair said, “This program is a fitting tribute to Dr. King, a social change leader whose activities during the civil rights movement in America influenced the passage of the landmark 1964 Civil Rights Act and the 1965 Voting Rights Act.”

Two speakers will explain the structure of state and local government. Bionca Gambill, a former State Representative, will focus on how citizens may become engaged in the process. Perspectives will also be shared by State Senator Lonnie Randolph, a member of the Indiana Black Legislative Caucus.

“There are many different ways for citizens to impact government,” commented A. Theressa Bynum. “One may either be involved in politics or affect politics, but you must understand how government works and be a registered voter,” Bynum added.

Please plan to attend the next NAACP meeting on Monday, January 15, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. at the Vigo County Public Library.

We look forward to your participation.
