The officers and executive committee at-large members elected in November to serve the Greater Terre Haute NAACP Branch will be installed during the January 21 Membership meeting at the Vigo County Public Library at 6:30 p.m. Members appointed to the executive committee will also be installed.
State Representative John L. Bartlett, (D, District 95), will administer the Installation Oath. Bartlett, a lifelong resident of Indianapolis, is a member of the Indiana Legislative Black Caucus and past member of the NAACP Executive Committee. He was elected to the Indiana House of Representatives in 2008.
“The work of our organization requires involvement with other local groups, as well as networking with State and national organizations,” said branch president Sylvester Edwards. “We have been successful in identifying more members to join the executive committee as part of key committees. Every elected officer and executive committee at-large member also volunteers on one or more committees,” he added.
Members are encouraged to participate in the discussion of issues and challenges facing our community that the NAACP may address as priorities are established. Some of the topics expected to be included are:
- Education
- Health
- Voting Rights
- Criminal Justice
- Climate Justice
- Election Reform
- Veterans’ Affairs
The Greater Terre Haute NAACP Branch meets on the third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Vigo County Public Library.
