The Greater Terre Haute NAACP Branch will host Denise Abdul-Rahman, NAACP Indiana Environmental & Climate Justice Chair, in observance of Earth Day this month. Her presentation will be at the Vigo County Public Library on Monday, April 16, 2018, at 6:30 p.m.
Abdul-Rahman will highlight the NAACP’s activities on the national level as well as her work within Indiana. She has been the recipient of numerous awards for outstanding work, including Earth Charter Indiana. “Social & Economic Justice”; Sister Soldier Network “Outstanding Citizen Community Service”; and Hoosier Environmental Council “Environmentalist of the Year” CREDO “Climate Hero”.
“Earth Day is everyday, especially when our climate is changing,” reminds Abdul-Rahman. “Carbon pollution causes change. We can do small things to reduce carbon emissions, like use a little less energy, drive less and write and call on public officials to employ clean energy policies.”
“The greater Terre Haute community can benefit from hearing and discussing strategies for ways to save our planet,” remarked John E. Lang, Acting Brach President.
The event is open to the public.
