If you live in Terre Haute (and/or know people who do), then you should be interested in getting to know the candidates running for City Council in the May Primary election. The League of Women Voters, the Greater Terre Haute NAACP Branch, and the Tribune Star are co-sponsoring a Candidate Forum to provide you an opportunity to “Meet and Greet” them. All candidates, opposed and unopposed, are expected to attend.
- When: Tuesday, April 9, 2019 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
- Where: Vigo County Public Library (7th and Poplar)
Attendees will hear the candidates answer questions about why they are running, their position on issues, and what they consider the challenges facing the City.
Do you have issues that concern you? This would be a great time to ask and/or hear what others ask.
City Council members vote on many issues that impact our daily lives. Voters have the opportunity to choose their best representatives.
Decisions of local lawmakers affect taxes, services (such as trash pick-up, recycling), police and fire protection, school facilities, quality of life for seniors and children, handling of human and civil rights violations, introduction of soil and water toxins into brownfield sites, and elimination of blighted (abandoned) housing.
